Emily Atef – Director

The Berlin based filmmaker Emily Atef is widely known for her Romy Schneider biopic  ‘3 days in Quiberon’ which competed for the Golden Bear at the 2018 Berlin International film festival and won 7 German Film Academy Awards including Best Feature Film and Best Director.

Atef was born to a French mother and an Iranian father. She is a world traveller, grew up in Los Angeles, France and London and studied at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. Her debut film ‘ Molly’s Way’ was dotted with 8 international awards and her second feature ‘The Stranger in me’ premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. When she is not developing her feature films she directs TV dramas, flirting with different genres from black comedy to thriller.
